Vitamin D receptor (VDR) Cdx2 polymorphism is located in the promoter area of VDR gene, it’s A allele increases and G allele decreases transcription and might play role in the development of insulin resistance in PCOS. Therefore, the rationale of present study was to investigate the relationship between VDR Cdx2 gene polymorphism and PCOS among young females of Pakistan.

Methods: A total of 175 subjects (80 cases and 95 controls) were enrolled in this study. Blood samples were collected and genomic DNA was isolated. Genotyping of VDR Cdx2 was carried out using tetra-primer amplification refractory mutation system (T-ARMS) PCR technique.

Results: Results showed a significant association (χ2= 9.640 P-value= 0.008) among PCOS and VDR-Cdx2 variant with no risk obtained in GG and GA genotypes of VDR Cdx2.

Conclusion: VDR Cdx2 gene polymorphism may be associated with PCOS.
ER -
